The history of the haunted St. Albans in Radford, VA., starts out peacefully as the St. Albans School, a boy’s school. Nine years later in 1911 the school was closed due to lack of interest. Unhappy with the way things were being run at the nearby Southwestern Lunatic Asylum in Marion (now Southwestern Virginia Mental Health Institute), Dr. John King bought the building along with 56 acres and St. Albans was opened in 1915.
